UV is divided into four bands according to wavelength:
*UVA, 320~400nm, also known as long-wave dark spot effect ultraviolet. It has strong penetrating power and can penetrate most transparent glass and plastic. UVA can go directly to the dermis of the skin, destroy elastic fibers and collagen fibers, and make our skin tan. UVA with a wavelength of 360nm conforms to the phototaxis response curve of insects, and can be used to make insect trap lamps.
*UVB, 275~320nm, also known as medium wave erythema effect ultraviolet. It has medium penetrating power, and its shorter wavelength part will be absorbed by glass. UVB have erythema effect on human body, can promote mineral metabolism in the body and the formation of vitamin D, but long-term or excessive exposure will make the skin tanned, and Cause redness and peeling.
*UVC, 200 ~ 275nm, also known as short-wave sterilization ultraviolet. It has the weakest penetrating ability and cannot penetrate most transparent glass and plastics. The uv sterilizer emits UVC short-wave ultraviolet. UV sterilization is to destroy and change the DNA structure of microorganisms through ultraviolet irradiation, so that the bacteria will die immediately or cannot reproduce offspring to achieve the purpose of sterilization. It is UVC that really has a bactericidal effect, because C-band ultraviolet rays are easily absorbed by the DNA of organisms, especially ultraviolet rays around 253.7nm are the best.
*UVD,100~200nm, also known as vacuum ultraviolet.
