Requirements For The Use Of UV Sterilizers

Water quality requirements

The water quality should meet the relevant regulations of drinking water hygiene standards, the total value of coliform bacteria should be less than 10000/L, the chromaticity should be less than 15 degrees, the total iron content should be less than 0.3mg/L, and the turbidity should be less than 5NTU. For surface water sources, coagulation, sedimentation, and filtration are usually performed before they are disinfected and used as drinking water.


The water quality should meet the relevant provisions of drinking water hygiene standards

1. Bacterial index: the total Escherichia coli group value in the source water is less than 1000/L, and the total number of bacteria is less than 2000/ML;

2.The chromaticity is less than 15 degrees;

3.The total iron content is less than 0.3mg/L;

4.Turbidity is less than 5 degrees;

5.The manganese content value is less than 0.05ppm (0.05 mg/L)

6.The hardness is less than 7gpg (120 mg/L). If the total hardness is greater than 7gpg,the water source needs to be softened;

7.The UV penetration rate is greater than 75%.

8.Water temperature: 5℃-50℃


For surface water sources,coagulation,sedimentation,and filtration are usually performed before they are disinfected and used as drinking water.


Water temperature requirements


Because the water temperature environment will directly affect the radiation output of the UV lamp of the UV sterilizer. Under normal circumstances, the suitable temperature of the UV sterilizer is between 5 and 40 degrees Celsius, which can make the ultraviolet radiation intensity most effective and radiation stable. When the water temperature environment is about 25 degrees Celsius,the radiation germicidal ultraviolet rays of the ultraviolet lamp are the strongest.


In the sterilization environment around the UV lamp,the lower the water temperature,the less UV output,and the higher the water temperature,the more UV absorption,so the UV output will gradually decrease.However, most microorganisms are very sensitive to ultraviolet rays at low temperature, and low temperature can affect the output intensity of ultraviolet lamps.At 4 degrees Celsius,the output intensity of some ultraviolet lamps is only 20-30% of that at 27 degrees Celsius.


Therefore,the lower the water temperature environment,the stronger the resistance of bacteria,and the weaker the sterilization effect of ultraviolet rays.When the water temperature environment is lower than 0 °C,the sterilization effect will be completely lost,affecting the sterilization effect.


Therefore,the water temperature of the ultraviolet sterilizer is too high or too low,which will affect the effect of ultraviolet sterilization.


Voltage requirements


The rated voltage of the ultraviolet sterilizer is the voltage parameter required for the operation of the ultraviolet sterilizer.For ordinary ballasts,when the power supply voltage changes,the radiation intensity of the ultraviolet lamp increases with the increase of the voltage,and the sterilization ability of the sterilizer increases accordingly.However,the voltage cannot be increased indefinitely,otherwise the lamp tube will be damaged.The power supply voltage of the sterilizer should be stabilized within the range of 220V±10%.But for ballasts with power factor correction (high-end digital display,full voltage),the power of the UV lamp is not affected by voltage.
