ScaleDp Helps Power Plant Reduce RO Antiscalant Use By 28.75%

A power plant reduced total daily RO antiscalant consumption from 40 kg to 28.5 kg after introducing ScaleDp physical scale control.

news-1-1

Three-Month Comparison Between RO Trains

The system feeds two RO membrane trains from a DN250 main pipeline. For a three-month comparison, the plant installed ScaleDp on Train A's inlet and stopped antiscalant dosing. Meanwhile, Train B continued its original chemical dosing program.

The plant monitored interstage differential pressure to track membrane operating conditions. The comparison showed the following results:

Operating indicator RO Train A: ScaleDp RO Train B: Chemical dosing
Interstage differential pressure after three months Approximately 0.14 MPa 0.176 MPa
Increase in differential pressure 0.017 MPa 0.076 MPa
Chemical cleaning during the trial Not required Required

During the comparison, Train A also maintained approximately 97% salt rejection.

Lower Chemical Use and Longer Cleaning Intervals

The 11.5 kg/day saving represents a 28.75% reduction in total daily antiscalant use. In addition, the case separately reports cleaning intervals of about nine months for Train A, compared with three months for Train B. These cleaning intervals describe operating experience beyond the three-month comparison.

Physical Scale Control for RO Systems

news-1024-683

ScaleDp uses an internal multi-alloy DPSE core to influence mineral crystallization. As water passes through the device, the treatment aims to reduce hard-scale adhesion. Calcium and magnesium remain in the water, while the process focuses on how deposits form and attach.

Moreover, the device needs no regeneration salt or external power supply. It also requires no dedicated antiscalant feed for its own operation. These features give project buyers a physical scale-control option to evaluate alongside their RO operating requirements.

ScaleDp supports distributors, engineering contractors and plant operators with application reviews. For example, buyers can share their feedwater analysis, pipe size and operating flow so the technical team can assess a suitable configuration and installation position. This review helps determine how the device may fit the existing treatment process.
